San Mateo Redesign and Addition

“We want a home that is open, filled with light, where we can entertain friends, and grow old together.”

This complete renovation, coupled with a modest addition, has transformed a cramped 1940s home into an airy, modern space ideal for a childless couple. The previously underutilized attic was opened up to create a stunning vaulted Great Room, enhancing the existing layout. An addition that includes a master suite and a guest suite was constructed at the rear, fostering a charming courtyard atmosphere around a mature oak tree in the backyard. Through clever reuse of space, this transformation expanded the home from two bedrooms and one bath to a spacious four-bedroom, three-bath residence, all within an addition of less than 500 square feet.
